Carroll ISD Librarian Influences the Community

Dragons+ReadCarroll ISD is celebrating National Library Week and in the midst of the fanfare, a note was emailed to one of the librarians, Sarah Chase, Carroll Senior High School  Librarian. Chase writes weekly book reviews here. The reviews cover a variety of titles and are read by Dragon students and faculty.

This week, Chase received a note from a community member, a retiree from who loves to read. The author of the letter came across Chase’s book recommendations when her neighbor, Stephanie Fuller, a teacher at CSHS, began forwarding her the book reviews over a year ago.

The author of the letter writes, “Before Stephanie began sending your lists to me, I found it difficult to make selections (beyond the classics) on my own and often just stick to familiar modern authors …. I have now stepped out and into a new world of unfamiliar authors and have enjoyed many that I think you recommended.  Many I can discuss with my grandkids and provides an added connection.”

The author closed the letter by expressing her thanks to Chase.

“I have now read more than 50 books during the last year and shared my favorites with my sister and others.  I just finished the Kite Runner which I would have never selected until you helped me learn that even if books will never become classic there are many worth reading.  Just give them a try!”

This week, as Carroll ISD celebrates the many things the libraries bring to the community, pick up a new book and give it a try!
