The Carroll Lady Dragon soccer team went 3-0 in the Governor’s Cup last weekend in Round Rock and coach Matt Colvin earned his 300th career victory.
The Lady Dragons scored 12 goals in three games and allowed one. Carroll moved to 10-1 overall. The Lady Dragons defeated Round Rock 2-0, Atascocita 4-1 and Katy Taylor 6-0.
Carroll returns to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. against rival Coppell.
The Dragons will play a doubleheader on Friday against Coppell and play 5:45 p.m. before the Lady Dragons. Last week, the Dragons went 3-0-1. They defeated Leander 3-0 and Vista Ridge twice 4-1 and 6-0.
The Class 5A reigning national and state champion Carroll Dragon boys’ soccer team opened the 2012 season last weekend at the Richardson ISD Ice Bowl tournament. The Dragons reached the championship game before falling to host Berkner. Carroll opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory against John Paul II High School. Jack Fuller scored two goals and sophomore added one. The Dragons followed with shutout victories against Richardson High School and Mansfield. The thrilling championship game ended with a Berkner 1-0 victory. Carroll returns to action Thursday in the Duncanville tournament. The Dragons’ next home game will be Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 7:30 p.m. against Sam Houston.
Lady Dragons Off To Fast Start
The Carroll Lady Dragons’ soccer team produced an impressive start to the 2012 season. Carroll went 4-0 in the National Elite Prep Showcase last weekend. The Lady Dragons outscored four opponents 16-0. Carroll defeated Austin Westlake 1-0, Amarillo Palo Duro 12-0, Rosary 2-0, and Clear Lake 1-0. Carroll returns to action Thursday at the Colleyville Heritage Tournament. Carroll faces Arlington at 8 p.m. at Mustang-Panther Stadium.
