City of Southlake & Volunteers Team Up for Great American Cleanup

KSBlogoOn Saturday, May 17th, the City of Southlake hosted Southlake’s 2014 Great American Cleanup workday, a local extension of Keep America Beautiful’s nationwide Great American Cleanup initiative.

One hundred Southlake residents- including teens and children- teamed up with members of the Southlake congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for a four-hour workday pulling weeds, picking up trash, and putting down mulch on the trails at Bob Jones Park.

Cassie Holtz with the City of Southlake said, “The Great American Cleanup is one of the nation’s largest community improvement initiatives.  Millions of volunteers come together for this annual event to cleanup and beautify their communities.  The City of Southlake is proud to partner with all of the volunteers who came out for the day.  We hope this day of service not only improved Bob Jones Park, but also provided an opportunity for families to make difference in the community.”

The Great American Cleanup is held annualy in the spring. If you are interested in volunteering at the next cleanup, please visit www.CityofSouthlake.com/ksb for information.
