Resurfacing on Continental Blvd. Set to Start Monday, June 11

Continental Blvd. is about to drive a lot smoother. Motorists can expect slower traffic and some delays on E. & W. Continental Blvd., between Davis Blvd. and Byron Nelson Parkway, as resurfacing construction is set to start on Monday.

Construction work will take place between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and is expected to last until July 6. While work is being completed there will be temporary lane closures affecting both east and westbound motorist. Traffic control personnel will be on site to help direct traffic.

Southlake Public Works Streets Division is partnering with Tarrant County, a cost-saving measure, to complete this project, which will be done in three phases. Weather permitting, here is the expected schedule for the project:

Phase I: Milling work will begin Monday, June 11 and continue through Friday, June 15.

Phase II: Asphalt resurfacing will begin Monday, June 18 and continue through Friday, June 29

Phase III: Striping and pavement marking will run simultaneously with paving and is expected to be completed by July 6.

As a reminder, motorists should anticipate slow moving traffic, and plan accordingly for additional travel times.

Please contact Public Works Operations (817) 748-8082 with any questions.

New Traffic Signal at the Kimball/Continental Intersection

There’s a new signal at Kimball Avenue and Continental Boulevard.

Motorists may have noticed work being done at the South Kimball Avenue and East Continental Boulevard intersection.

For the last few months, contractors have been installing a brand new traffic signal at this intersection. Recently, the light poles have gone up and the signal has entered flashing mode. The signal is expected to be fully activated by Wednesday, September 2, 2015.

The new signal will provide increased safety at this intersection and will help accommodate the increase in traffic in the area due to new development.
