Dragons Gear For District Opener Against Keller Central

The Carroll Dragons used their final non-district game as an impressive tuneup for District 4-5A action.

The Dragons blanked Temple 34-0 before more than 10,000 fans Friday at Cowboys Stadium. In the past two weeks, Carroll (2-1) has outscored Midland and Temple 97-3 and the Dragon defense has not allowed a touchdown in nine consecutive quarters. This week the Dragons have an open date before opening 4-5A play Friday, Sept. 28 at Keller Central.

Carroll handed Temple (2-1) its first loss of the season behind a huge rushing performance by quarterback Kenny Hill. The senior rushed for a career-high 238 yards on 18 carries (13 yards per carry) and three touchdowns. He scored on runs of 49, 1 and 7 yards on the night. Hill was also 14-of-26 passing and completed passes to nine different Dragon receivers. Junior running back A.J. Ezzard added 72 yards on 14 carries and one touchdown. Kicker Drew Brown chipped in two 20-yard field goals.

The Dragons held Temple to 38 yards rushing on 34 carries.

Carroll improved to 8-0 at Cowboys Stadium.
