Crud Cruiser Event Rescheduled

The news you have been waiting for: the new date for the Crud Cruiser event is now scheduled for Saturday, June 9!

Last weekend’s rainy forecast led to the canceling of the Crud Cruiser event on Saturday, April 21. We are pleased to announce that the event has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 9 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. or until full. The event will be held at Dragon Stadium located at 1085 South Kimball Avenue with event entry on the south side of the stadium.

Remember, in addition to disposing of your household hazardous waste, you can also dispose of your paper and electronics. You can find a full list of what you can and can’t bring in our previous story here.

Don’t forget to bring your driver’s license or water bill for proof of residency, and we hope to see you there!

Need to get rid of some household hazardous waste sooner? Visit the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center. For any questions, please contact Renni Burt at 817-748-8349.

Crud Cruiser Event Canceled

The Crud Cruiser event has been canceled due to tomorrow’s (4/21) rainy weather forecast.

The Southlake Fire department is working to reschedule a makeup date.  “As soon as we can secure a date with the Fort Worth Environmental Center, we will post the information,” said Southlake Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Arthur.

The next scheduled Crud Cruiser event is October 27, but Arthur anticipates scheduling the makeup date in the near future.

“The Crud Cruiser is one of the best ways to safely dispose of many household items,” Arthur added.

Residents have the ability to drop off the items at the Fort Worth Collection Center themselves, just be sure to bring a current copy of your water bill to prove residency. The collection center’s address is 6400 Bridge Street, Fort Worth. Drop off times are Thursdays and Fridays: 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Can you believe it’s already almost time for the biannual Spring Cleaning event? This Spring Cleaning event is a great way to rid your home of toxic paints, chemicals and other hazardous materials that can’t go in the trash.

Thanks to a partnership with the Fort Worth Environmental Center, residents can bring hazardous waste items to dispose of to the mobile collection center on Saturday, April 21 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. or until full at Dragon Stadium, 1085 South Kimball Avenue. Please bring your driver’s license or Southlake water bill to verify you’re a resident.

Items accepted will be:

  • Automotive fluids
  • Batteries
  • Cleaners & chemicals
  • Cooking oil
  • Lawn/garden/pool chemicals
  • Light bulbs
  • Paint & painting supplies. (If you have water-based or latex paint you can completely dry out the paint and place it in your regular household trash.)

Texas Recovery Systems will also be onsite to take your old electronics. You can dispose of e-waste items including:

  • CD/DVD drives
  • Cell phones
  • Computers (hard drives, monitors, laptops, cables etc.)
  • Printers, ink cartridges, and keyboards

In addition, there will also be on-site paper shredding to prevent your sensitive documents against identity theft.

There are a few items that we can’t accept.  Please don’t bring the following:

  • Ammunition and explosives
  • Appliances
  • Building materials
  • Bulk trash and yard waste
  • Butane/propane cylinders
  • Medicines and medical waste
  • Tires
  • Asbestos/PCBs/radioactive items

Can’t make it to the event? Visit the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center. For any questions, please contact Renni Burt at 817-748-8349.
