The Southlake Diwali Fest 2022 is just days away. The event kicks off Saturday, October 22, in Southlake Town Square at the Rustin Pavilion from 3 p.m. to midnight.
Mayor John Huffman spoke with Southlake Foundation members Deepa Colluru and Ritu Pahuja who serve on the festival’s planning committee to gather the final details about the event.
“Diwali, the Indian Festival of Lights is a big celebration, and it depicts or represents the spiritual victory of light over darkness and good over evil,” Colluru said.
The event has been held in Southlake over the last five years and has grown in popularity ever since. “It’s only getting bigger and better,” said Colluru.
Attendees can look forward to enjoying classical Bharatanatyam dance, handcrafts, art crafts, kids’ activities, delicious food, and more.
“This year, we are focusing on diversity, sustainability, and community,” Ritu Pahuja said.
Mayor John Huffman is also looking forward to the event, “My favorite part about Diwali Fest every year is just learning more about the Indian culture,” Huffman said.
The Southlake Diwali Fest is free and open to the public.
