Former Dragon Signs With LA Dodgers

Former Carroll pitcher Ross Stripling went from a former A&M walk-on to 5th round draft pick by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

[UPDATE: According to Ross Stripling’s Twitter account @RossStripling, he officially signed his Major League contract last Thursday with the Dodgers.]

Former Carroll Dragon pitcher Ross Stripling is bound for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. Stripling, a Texas A&M and Carroll graduate, was selected in the 5th round (No. 176 overall) in Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft on Tuesday. Stripling, who led the Aggies with a 10-4 mark this season, recently completed his career with the Aggies in the College Station Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Stripling (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) enjoyed a decorated career with the Aggies and threw the 11th no-hitter in school history this season. Stripling was 31-11 at A&M after walking on following an all-state selection as a senior at Carroll.

Stripling was drafted in the 9th round last year by the Colorado Rockies but elected to return to A&M.
