Press Release: Bob Jones Nature Center to Host Eco-therapy Classes

Active Meditation Class
Instructor: Pat Dorraj

Every Wednesday beginning April 24 from 6:00 to 7:15 pm

Cost: $15.00

Meditation centers us in our authentic inner selves, so that we can act in the world with integrity, authority, and grace. Meditation techniques that suppress movement, instinct, emotion, and ego work well for monks, but not for modern western humans, and they can even be harmful. We spend hours every day in sedentary and stressful activities that separate us from our bodies, emotions and natural instincts. We need meditations that counteract this by engaging our senses, our whole bodies, and the natural world around us and return us to our everyday lives more fully awake and aware, more ready to be present in every moment. Please bring a mat or cushion and dress comfortably and in layers. Practice will be outdoors.

Gong Meditation
Instructor : Kenny Kolter

The second Tuesday of every month beginning June 11 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Cost: $20.00

Allow the power of sound and vibration of different musical instruments to quiet your mind and body. Bring a yoga mat, pillow, and/or blanket.

Intentional Drum Circle
Instructor: Kenny Kolter

The first Tuesday of every month beginning June 4 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Cost: $20.00

Find your own personal rhythms and cadence, while experiencing the healing energy of music in an atmosphere of openness and acceptance. All levels are welcome and no musical sills are necessary. This experiential workshop is about play and freedom of expression. Drums/percussion instruments provided or bring your own drum if you have one.

The mission of the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve is to preserve local natural resources and history by providing places of compatible recreation and fostering education of our natural environment.  The BJNCP is owned by the City of Southlake and managed as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.  With 76 acres of prairies and forests that connects with over 400 acres of Cross Timbers habitat including the national Walnut Grove Recreation Trail, the preserve and surrounding area is home to a wealth of indigenous animal and plant species.
