School Day Surprise for CSHS Teacher

It started as a normal Thursday morning, then a television news crew from local ABC affiliate WFAA-TV arrived at Carroll Senior High School.

The crew, along with parent volunteers, campus administrators and a sponsor representative walked the halls to the classroom of U.S. History teacher, Paul Pinson. The small crowd was there to recognize and honor Mr. Pinson as Teacher of the Month sponsored by Good Morning Texas and City Credit Union.

Pinson was nominated for the award by Carroll ISD parent and dedicated district volunteer, Echo Klatt.  Part of her nomination submission read, “Paul never forgets a name of his students or parents, he’s a gentle giant, talented (plays the guitar for his students)… I’m so proud of Paul Pinson and all of his efforts to help make a difference in a child’s life and all that he encounters!” Based on Klatt’s submission, Pinson was selected and on Thursday, Nov. 14 he was presented with a gift basket and interviewed during class.

Pinson has nearly 30 years of teaching experience. He began teaching at Carroll in 2001 and also coached football and track.

The segment is scheduled to air on WFAA-TV  Thursday, Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. The Teacher of the Month nomination program recognizes educators from across the Dallas-Fort Worth area for their hard work and dedication to students. Click here for more information about the contest.
