Dragon Nation: Avid Fan Following From Africa

During the Carroll Dragons’ football playoff run this season, the excitment has captured the community. But the Dragons’ following reaches far past Southlake.

Carroll parent David Meyer, a member of the Army Reserve, is currently stationed in Africa. He is also following every moment of the Dragons’ playoff run listening to the games on the team’s flagship station online.

The Dragons have won four playoff games and meet Dallas Skyline in the Class 5A Division I State Semifinals at 4 p.m. Saturday at SMU’s Ford Stadium. Meyer won’t miss a single play. While deployed on the east coast of Africa with a significant time difference, Meyer wakes up between 1-3 a.m. Sunday mornings to listen to the live Saturday broadcasts carried by Chuck Kelly and Kelly Milligan. Thanks to having Sundays off in Africa, Meyer is able to sleep in after the game is over.
