The Programs Team wrapped up its annual Club Metro Camp earlier in August, which is a part of the Adapted Recreation program named Club Metro. For those unfamiliar, Club Metro is designed to provide enriching experiences for adults and teenagers with special needs. Club Metro Camp consists of three one-week sessions in June, July, and August.
Club Metro Camp offers diverse environments where participants can socialize and explore new experiences alongside their friends. The camp fosters an atmosphere of acceptance and support, ensuring that every individual has the tools they need to engage in activities tailored to their abilities. With a focus on inclusivity and personal growth, Club Metro Camp provides a welcoming space for everyone. The activities these Campers participated in were games, crafts, sports, and STEM activities.
One of the Camp’s highlights is its field trips, which offer campers opportunities for learning and enjoyment. The field trips are designed to provide educational experiences that go beyond the Camp. For example, at the Best Maid Pickle Emporium, campers learned more about pickle-making and sampled a variety of pickle flavors ranging from sweet to spicy. This field trip was an educational adventure everyone enjoyed.
Some other field trips the campers took part in were the Frontiers of Flight Museum, Evo, Tornado Terry’s, Medieval Times, Meow Wolf, Sea Life Aquarium, the Southlake Library, and more.
Out of these exciting educational field trips, there were a few fan favorites. Kailey Elrod said, “I liked the library because I read Harry Potter and the Dork Diaries.” Another camper, Greg Podjan, mentioned: “The flight museum was really cool because of all the planes.”
Overall, the camp was a success this past summer, and Club Metro Camp 2025 planning is well underway for some new fun and exciting activities! We can’t wait to see you next year!
The kids are back in school, but it wasn’t long ago that they were living their best lives at Summer Camp Mania!
Summer Camp Mania 2022 is officially in the books, but we wanted to take the time to showcase some of the highlights from the summer. With nine weeks of structured programming, Camp Mania returned with a bang this year.
Throughout the summer, we had 873 enthusiastic campers enrolled. These campers enjoyed a fantastic summer filled with incredible field trips, fun guest performances, friendly competitions, and much more!
Let’s take a look at some of this year’s highlights:
Putting together a structured day camp that is both fun, educational, and unique is no easy feat; however, our Programs team rose to the challenge. Take a look at what some satisfied parents had to say:
“Very happy, my kids loved this camp! We’re new to the area so tried several out and they want to do this most of the summer next year. Convenient, reasonably priced and so fun. Thank you!”
“Staff was great and kids had a lot of fun. Much needed time during the day.”
Kids are happy. Variety of activities is nice, and excellent value for the money.”
“Amazing staff and such awesome activities and field trips!!!! I wish I had signed up for more than just one week this year!!!”
“My son had so much fun! Thanks for making his experience amazing!”
“My girls always have a blast!! Fun activities and really cool field trips!”
This summer will be one to remember. Not only did participants make friendships and life-long memories, but our staff developed professionally with each passing week. We can’t wait to go back to the drawing board and start planning an even better summer experience for next year.
If you can’t wait another year to return to Camp Mania, sign up for one of our upcoming Day Break or Holiday Break Camp Mania opportunities!

The Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum tells the story of the Holocaust, the emergence of international human rights following the war, and the development of human and civil rights in America. Join us as we explore this critical moment in human history.
All museum guests must wear face masks for the duration of their visit, and groups are asked to social distance at least six feet apart from anyone not in their group while inside.
Registration for this outing is $14.00. Members must bring additional money for lunch at Corner Bakery. Register here.
We hope you will join us on one or both of these trips. We are excited to bring back field trips as we continue creating life-long memories for our members. A huge thank you to The Southlake Senior Funding, Inc. for partially funding these excursions.
Look out for more outings in the coming months!
