The Carroll Lady Dragons entered District 5-6A action with the No. 1 national ranking by TopDrawerSoccer. The Lady Dragons are proving worthy of the honor.
Carroll is 3-0 in district action, which includes a 5-1 victory last week against Flower Mound – the defending Class 6A state champions. The Lady Dragons host Lewisville on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
The Lady Dragons have outscored teams 15-1 in district and remain undefeated at 9-0. In Tuesday’s 8-0 victory against Trinity, Texas Tech signee Ally Griffin scored four goals and added two assists. Taylor Tufts had one goal and three assists.
Dragons Face Lewisville on Road
The Dragon boys’ soccer team faces Lewisville on the road at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Carroll is 1-1 in district and suffered its first loss of the season last Friday 2-1 to Flower Mound. But on Tuesday, the Dragons bounced back with a 3-0 victory against Trinity.
Calvin Herd leads the Dragons with 10 goals and is tied for the team lead with three assists.
The Carroll Lady Dragons, ranked No. 1 in the nation, opened District 5-6A play on the road Tuesday at Hebron.
The Lady Dragons carried their stellar non-district start into league play with a 2-0 victory. Carroll improved to 7-0 on the season and 1-0 in district.
After a scoreless first half, Alli Gardner provided the first goal and Ally Griffin added the second to secure the victory.
The Lady Dragons return to district action Friday when they hosting defending state champion Flower Mound at 7:30 p.m.
The Carroll Dragons begin their quest for a District 5-6A championship on Friday.
The Dragons, who had a bye last week, travel to face Flower Mound at 7:30 p.m. at Neal Wilson Stadium. The Jaguars are 1-2 and are also coming off a bye last week.
Carroll (2-1) won its first road game two weeks ago at Rockwall 30-23. The Dragon offense will look for more big offensive plays behind quarterback Mason Holmes. Carroll’s defense also had a big performance in the second half against Rockwall with a shutout.

AUSTIN – The Carroll Dragons are bound for the Class 5A Region I semifinals after their second consecutive series sweep.
The Dragons (30-4) completed a region quarterfinal sweep Saturday against San Angelo Central to advance to meet Flower Mound this week. Carroll won the series opener 3-2 and and capped weekend with 6-4 victory at Concordia University. The Dragons were led by outstanding pitching and clutch hits to move to 5-0 in the postseason.
In Game 1, relief pitcher Cooper Westland earned the victory and Michael Basler claimed the save leaving the bases loaded in the seventh. Second baseman Drew Davis provided the go-ahead run with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Cramer tied the game at 1-1 with a single in the fifth.
The Game 2, Cramer started on the mound went six innings for the victory and Joe Heineman earned the save. Nic Motley had a solo home run and Barry Casey had two hits and three RBI.
