APEX Presents "Vivez Joyeux — A Celebration of French Music"

Metroplex musicians come together to perform an afternoon of French chamber music. The performance will be in the sanctuary of White’s Chapel UMC in Southlake, TX, at 3:00pm on Sunday, January 26th, 2014. Performing chamber music from different French periods, the ensemble will culminate the program with the suite from the ballet La Revue de Cuisine by Bohuslav Martinû.

The musicians involved are members of the Fort Worth Symphony and Dallas Opera Orchestras, as well as UNT faculty. A sextet including piano, winds, brass, and strings contributes to a wonderful mix of instrumental color on this program.

This family-friendly concert will feature small chamber works from different time periods of French music, including the music of Caude Bolling, Lili Boulanger, and François-Joseph Garnier. The final piece, incorporating the full sextet of musicians, is the suite from Bohuslav Martinû’s La Revue de Cuisine. Originally a short one act ballet telling the silly tale of a group of kitchen utensils, this musical suite reflects the joy of the music scene in Paris just before the hardships of WWII.

Keep your program and take it along to La Madeleine-Grapevine, and receive a 15% discount on your meal! You can enjoy a meal just after the concert, or up to 2 weeks following. APEX says “merci” to our good friends and fellow Francophiles at La Madeleine – Grapevine!

“Vivez Joyeux — A Celebration of French Music” can be heard on Sunday, January 26th, 2014, at 3:00pm, in the sanctuary of White’s Chapel United Methodist Church, in Southlake, TX. All are welcome.
