The Southlake Police Department is participating in a large scale manhunt with area law enforcement agencies for felony suspect Alberto Morales. At approximately 11:30 p.m. Monday night, Miami-Dade Police Officers were transporting Morales to Nevada from Florida. Officers stopped at the Wal-Mart located at Hwy 26 and SH 114 in Grapevine. While parked at Wal-Mart, Morales violently attacked one of the officers and was able to escape on foot. Morales is described as a 42 year old Hispanic male, 5′ 7″ and approximately 175 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and possibly wears glasses. Morales was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweatshirt, blue shorts, and one shoe. At the time of his escape, Morales was still in arm and leg restraints. Morales has a long violent criminal history and should be considered armed and very dangerous.
The Police department is working with CISD on enhanced police presence and patrols at the schools. We are also working with area police agencies as part of a comprehensive effort to find Morales. Residents are encouraged to be alert and to immediately report any suspicious activity by dialing 911. Thank you for your attention.
