Town Square to Host Annual Green Fest

Mark your calendars for the upcoming premier sustainability event in the local area – Green Fest Southlake. The event will celebrate its sixth year and event coordinators are excited to be able to bring this one day experience to Southlake Town Square’s Rustin Park on March 29. The sponsor for the event is Southlake’s own, Bob Jones Nature Center.  This FREE event will offer opportunities for attendees to meet socially-responsible businesses showcasing their products and services. Attendees can expect to see the latest in energy-efficient solutions for the home and business, what and how to recycle, non-toxic home products, organic food and sustainable home décor.  Green Fest Southlake will continue to help empower people to live healthier lives—socially, economically and environmentally.

One of the booth sponsors who has been with Green Fest since the beginning is Southlake’s own, Blind and Shutter Guys. Owner, Karl Stefansson, had this to say about Green Fest, “This is the sixth year we have participated in Green Fest. This event gives us a great opportunity to showcase our GreenGuard products that are also child- and pet-safe.”

Entertainment will be on-going throughout the day in the Pavilion including live music, CISD student’s performances and local gymnastics teams.

In addition to the entertainment and vendors, students Kindergarten through 6th grade are encouraged to participate by collecting juice pouches or discarded cell phones for a chance to win an Apple iPad.  Event chair, Audra Lewandowski, said, “Last year we collected over 5,000 juice pouches to be upcycled into new products.  These juice pouches are not normally recycled, so would just end up in a landfill.”

Also, a crowd favorite, the scavenger hunt will be back!  Kids K through 6 will have another chance to win an iPad by completing a 10-question card at the event.  Two tickets will be drawn at the end of the event and those lucky winners will receive an Apple iPad, donated by Natex Architects.  Also, make sure you check out the drawing items!  Local businesses donate some fabulous products and gift certificates for winners to enjoy! Central Market baskets, restaurant and spa gift cards, and a recycling bin from Home Depot, just to name a few!

Donations and proceeds from the event will benefit local organizations to help further their green projects and initiatives.  Engage with Green Fest Southlake online at http://www.TexasGreenFest.com and https://www.facebook.com/GreenFestSouthlake for the latest news about the event.
