As a result of the Mayor’s School Safety Task Force, Southlake PD continues to enhance the protection of all schools within our city.
Thanks to the continued support of the City Council & Crime Control Prevention District (CCPD), the Southlake Police Department recently added three (3) new School Resource Officer (SRO) positions to its award-winning SRO Program. The program currently maintains a total of 18 sworn staff members including 3 supervisors who oversee safety operations at each Carroll Independent School District campus with the recent addition of Florence Elementary School, a Keller ISD school located within the City of Southlake.
On January 9, 2023, the Southlake Police Department welcomed its newest member to the SRO program, Officer Gregory Potter. Officer Potter is a retired Sergeant from the DFW Airport Police Department with over 32 years of law enforcement experience, including time spent as a K-9 handler, a Motor Officer, SWAT team leader and bomb squad leader.
Officer Potter’s new assignment to provide safety enforcement on-location at Florence Elementary School accomplishes the City’s strategic goals of achieving the highest standards of safety and security at each ISD school location throughout the academic year.
According to a statement by SRO Police Captain Preston Logan, “We are proud that Southlake’s children are protected by one of the best SRO programs in the state.”
