Carroll ISD Celebrates End of Year: Happily Ever After

With the end of another school year comes the annual End of Year Celebration for Carroll ISD teachers and staff. To wrap up this year’s Once Upon a Dragon theme, teachers entered the Happily Ever After Reception at Carroll Senior High School on Wednesday, May 22 at 4 p.m. A room filled with color, candy bars, and food donated by Carroll ISD marketing partner Central Market greeted the teachers and staff. Excitement filled the air as over 350 employees gathered to be recognized and hear the winners of this year’s awards.

The event was emceed by Superintendent Dr. David Faltys and Carroll School Board President Read Ballew. To start the afternoon, Dr. Faltys spent time thanking Carroll employees for their hard work and the impact they have on the Southlake youth. Throughout the program, all 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 year Service Award winners were recognized as well as retirees. This year’s Auxiliary Service Award was given to Francisco Rios, Old Union Elementary Custodian and Linda Story, Administration Center/School Custodian. The Paraprofessional Service Award was presented to Sandra Ruiz, Principal’s Secretary at Rockenbaugh Elementary School and Diana Kelley, Payroll and Benefits Supervisor in the Financial Services Department who is retiring at the end of this year after 13 years with Carroll ISD. The Distinguished Service Award was given to Sylvia Barnett, Walnut Grove Elementary School Assistant Principal and Mark Terry, Eubanks Intermediate School Principal who is retiring after 19 with the School District.

Carroll ISD 2013 Retirees

After the 2012-2013 Campus Teachers of the Year were recognized, this year’s District Teachers of the Year were presented. Patty Willingham, 4th grade teacher at Carroll Elementary School who is retiring after 33 years of service to Carroll ISD, was awarded K-6 Teacher of the Year. Sheryl Sides, Science teacher at Dawson Middle School was awarded Secondary Teacher of the Year. Both individuals were given gifts and prizes from Carroll Education Foundation, Frost Bank, and Park Place Lexus. These gifts included flower arrangements, gift cards, and a Lexus vehicle package for the summer. 

Throughout the program, several door prizes were given to employees who were lucky enough to have their name drawn. First Investors donated three sets of Rangers tickets and gift cards, services, and prizes were donated by other We Care Sponsors including: Jason’s Deli, Mathnasium, Berkeys, Family Wellness Chiropractic, Golf Galaxy, Aleda’s Pizza, Silver Spoon, S&S Sports, Waters Financial Planning, Sylvan Learning Center, Tommy Pennington Realty Group, Carroll Education Foundation, and Bibbentuckers. Food for the entire event was catered by Carroll ISD marketing partner Central Market Southlake.
