The Bob Jones Nature Center, along with the City of Southlake’s Department of Public Safety, will present a “Living with Wildlife” educational series with Corporal Thomas Keen and Field Services Officer Ronnie White on Saturday, February 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Attendees will learn more about wildlife animals, such as the feral hog, and their natural habitats. The presentation will also cover the natural history of feral pigs and their effects on property in parks and residential areas. Instructors will also discuss population control of wildlife. There is no fee to attend.
The second presentation will be Saturday, March 10, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. As Southlake develops and new homes and businesses encroach on natural habitats, more and more residents are dealing with wildlife and their distinct behaviors. This is a great opportunity for residents to learn how to handle these often-times unwanted guests. The presentation portion of the class is free.
During the second half of the program, Texas Metro Wildlife rehabbers will guide attendees in building their own squirrel box to take home. Cost to cover the materials is $10.00 per box.
