Please join the City of Southlake Public Works’ department for their 6th annual Holiday Grease Roundup. This unique opportunity allows residents to donate their used cooking oil and grease in order to protect the City’s wastewater system. Residents will be able to conveniently donate their used oil at 1950 East Continental Boulevard day or night. A designated grease collection station will be available 24/7 from November 13 to January 12 for donations. Please note that motor oil will not be accepted.
By contributing to this program, you are helping to keep fats, oils, and grease (FOG) out of your community's sewer system. It is important that FOG items are disposed of properly as pouring these products down drains results in solidified masses that block flow within the plumbing system. Once a blockage has occurred, severe backups, overflows, and damage can occur, which could then affect the entire system. By choosing to partake in this program, residents can be assured that their used cooking oil and grease is being disposed of properly and not contributing to a plumbing issue. Additionally, by donating your oil and grease, your contributions will be recycled into biofuel.

Join the City of Southlake Public Works in their 3rd annual Holiday Grease Roundup. Residents will have the opportunity to come and donate their used cooking oil and grease at the Public Works Operations Center located at 1950 East Continental Boulevard for the chance to win a prize.

When fats, oils, and grease (commonly referred to as ‘FOG’) are washed down the drain, they have the potential to create significant blockages that can lead to overflows occurring in your home and even in your streets. These overflows can be extremely costly to both you and the community, while also causing harm to our environment. If you have leftover grease and oil from cooking this holiday season, be sure to recycle it during our Holiday Grease Roundup!
Check out this video for instructions on how to best collect your grease and oil and get it ready for recycling. Free collection containers will be available for pick-up at the collection station, too.
Participants who choose to complete the drop-off label available at the donation site will be automatically entered into a raffle for the chance to win an air fryer and an assortment of tools to help you keep your kitchen FOG-free! Only one entry per household will be given, regardless of the donation amount or quantity of donation. The raffle will be limited to Southlake residents. The City of Southlake will be participating for their second year in the Holiday Grease Roundup. The Public Works Department will provide a collection station where residents can drop off used cooking oil and grease to be recycled for free at 1950 East Continental Boulevard. The collection station will be accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from November 23, 2020 until January 4, 2021.
Holiday cooking can be hard on pipes and sewer systems. Washing oil and grease down the drain can lead to clogged pipes. This can cause sewer lines to backup in your home, which leads to expensive repairs and health concerns. To prevent sewer backups and clogged pipes during the holiday season, the Holiday Grease Roundup strives to provide a convenient location for residents to recycle cooking oil and grease.
The City wishes you a wonderful and safe holiday season and invites you to dispose of your cooking oil and grease responsibly. Free grease collection containers are available for pick-up in the collection station. For more information on other cities in the area that are participating, click here.
