Carroll Cross Country Teams Bring Home Bronze

THE WOODLANDS – The top teams in the state and as far as California met at the Nike South Invitational last Saturday. The runners faced high temperatures and humidity, which tested endurance through the winding, tight course. All four Dragon teams finished within the top-five places.

“Nike South is a great meet and we walked away from it with some bright spots and some that need to be addressed,” Carroll cross country coach Justin Leonard said. “We can achieve our goals but it’s going to take a total team effort over the next five weeks for that to happen. I’m really proud if the performance that Jacob Pickle, Eli Canal, Samantha Young and Moriah Dadson displayed.”In the Boys Varsity Elite race, Jacob Pickle’s second-place finish and Eli Canal’s ninth-place finish put them on the podium with the top-10t finishers.  Johnny Kemps grabbed 35th, Luke Lanham 38th and Ansel Richards took 57th to round out the scoring positions. Brent Aydon took 75th and Eric Vetere placed 103rd for the Elite Varsity team.

The Girls Varsity Elite team brought home the Bronze lead by Samantha Young with a ninth-place finish giving her a podium finish for the team.  Tig Archer took 11th, Moriah Dadson 18th, Katie Burnham 24th, and Ari Lopez 51st all held scoring positions.  Haley McFadden and Kayli Jones wrapped up the seven-member Elite team.
