Illuminated Street Name Sign (ILSN) and Battery Back-Up Project Wrap Up

ILSN-frontOver the last several months, City contractors have been installing illuminated street name signs (ILSN) and battery back-ups, at most major intersections along Southlake Boulevard (FM 1709).

The  ILSN and battery back-up project, which aims to  improve nighttime visibility of street signs along Southlake Boulevard and to ensure the signals continue to work during power failures, will be wrapping up in the next few weeks.

We appreciate your patience during the installation of the illuminated street name signs and battery back-ups. It was a long process, but these projects will make traveling along Southlake Boulevard safer.

For questions regarding the illuminated street name signs, please contact Steven Anderson, P.E. in the Public Works Department at 817-748-8098. For additional information about the illuminated street name signs, please visit the project web page here.

Orange Barrel Alert – Illuminated Street Name Sign Installation

ILSN ConceptIn August, we informed you regarding the installation of the the Illuminated Street Name (ILSN) signs going up at the intersections along Southlake Boulevard (FM 1709).  However, some unforeseen challenges resulted in the project’s delay.  Beginning this month, the ILSN project will resume.

On Saturday, October 18, 2014, the City’s contractor Durable Specialties Inc will begin installing the Illuminated Street Name Signs ( ILSNs) at the intersections along Southlake Boulevard (FM 1709). Motorists should expect rolling lane closures on Southlake Boulevard from October 18 through the week of October 20th while the signs are installed.  Installation will take about a week (weather permitting). The contractor will have two to three crews working in an effort to expedite the project and limit the duration of lane closures.

Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling along Southlake Boulevard (FM 1709) during the installation.  For more information about the Illuminated Street Name Signs, please visit the project page. For questions about the project, please contact Steve Anderson, P.E., C.F.M in the Public Works Department at 817-748-8101.
