Southlake issues Proclamation for Kidd's Kids Day

106.1 KISS FM, Yea Networks, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, Southwest Airlines, and more than 20 Dallas Fort Worth area cities are teaming up to honor radio D.J. Kidd Kraddick by proclaiming Friday August 2, 2013 as Kidd Kraddick Kidd’s Kids Day.

The day has been designated as the day that listeners can honor Kraddick’s memory by giving to his signature charity Kidd’s Kids.  The charity’s goal: to send chronically ill and physically challenged children on an unforgettable trip to Walt Disney World.

There are four ways to donate on Friday:

  • Stop by any participating DFW Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers locations
  • Donate online at 106.1kissfm.com
  • Text “KIDD” to 52000 to automatically donate $10
  • Call 214-866-8106 to donate via phone

Kraddick passed away in New Orleans on Saturday evening.  Details on a public memorial service will be announced in the coming days.

Mayor John Terrell issued Southlake’s proclamation late Wednesday evening.  It reads as follows:

Whereas radio broadcasting legend, Kidd Kraddick was known on the air waves for entertaining, off the air, he was about GIVING BACK to those in need; and,

Whereas, Kidd Kraddick created the non-profit Kidd’s Kids in 1991 in an effort to provide chronically ill and/or physically challenged children and their families with an unforgettable adventure to Walt Disney World; and,

Whereas, Kidd Kraddick, who was an enthusiastic philanthropist, celebrates Kidd’s Kids Day each year, by allowing special guests and supportive fans to join in the spirit of giving; throughout the year Kidd Kraddick works laboriously to support children both locally and nationally for the Kidd’s Kids / Kraddick Foundation to date, and has helped hundreds of children through struggling illness; and,

Whereas, on Friday, August 2, 2013 the DFW metroplex will celebrate Kidd Kraddick’s life with a very special Kidd’s Kids Day, taking donations onsite, online, and on air to benefit Kidd Kraddick’s charity Kidd’s Kids; and,

Whereas, the city of Southlake commends Kidd Kraddick, both on air and off, who has had an enormously positive impact that reaches even beyond the DFW metroplex, and the radio industry as a whole; now,

Therefore, I, Mayor John Terrell, on behalf of the Southlake City Council, do hereby proclaim August 2, 2013 as Kidd Kraddick Kidd’s Kids Day.
