Mindfulness—the ability to focus one’s mind on the present moment—is an attentional skill that can be strengthened with practice. Mindfulness is especially beneficial for children because it teaches them practical ways to calm their bodies, focus their minds and “respond vs. react” to difficult emotions. This class teaches mindfulness using fun and engaging exercises, relaxation strategies and yoga.
City of Southlake’s spring youth programs are designed to develop children’s minds and bodies, giving them the tools, knowledge and confidence they need to be successful.
Our experienced instructors make learning new subjects and skills fun and engaging for kids of all ages. Register today to secure your child’s spot in one of our upcoming youth programs!
Mindfulness for Kids uses evidence-based practices to teach children how to calm their bodies and minds. Mindfulness will be taught through a variety of kind-friendly modalities, including breath, yoga, art and music. Yoga and guided breathing practices will be included in every class. Children will be encouraged to explore their emotions and how to “respond vs. react” to difficult emotions. Children are encouraged to bring a yoga mat.
