Lady Dragon Softball Grabs Big Wins in District

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team had a successful week in District 5-6A.

The Lady Dragons started last Tuesday with a walk-off victory vs. Byron Nelson, then added a road shutout Friday at L.D. Bell.

Carroll blanked Bell 5-0 behind pitcher Kelly Shackleford, who allowed five hits and had five strikeouts. Abigail Stuart led the Lady Dragons at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

The Lady Dragons improved to 12-8-1 overall and 3-3 in district action. Carroll hosts Hebron at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Lady Dragons Face L.D. Bell for Share of District Title

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team has a chance to share the District 7-6A title Friday night.

The Lady Dragons play at district-leading L.D. Bell at 7:15 p.m. With a victory, the Lady Dragons would finish as co-district champs and earn the No. 1 playoff seed in 7-6A due to a season sweep of L.D. Bell.

Carroll is riding an eight-game win streak and currently 20-9 overall and 9-2 in district. Bell is 10-1 in district. The Lady Dragons won the first meeting between the teams 4-1 at CSHS.

The showdown to finish the regular season was possible after Carroll defeated Haltom 12-5 on Thursday. McKenzie Schneider led the Lady Dragons with four hits, including two home runs and had five RBI. Pitcher Lauren Long earned the victory on the mound.
