Dragon Sports Notebook: Lady Dragons No. 1 Seed

The Carroll Lady Dragon volleyball team begins its season Aug. 14 at Clear Falls. It will be a quick tuneup before the team begins play in a competitive field of the Pearland Tournament. Carroll, which went 47-4 last season, will enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed. The field also includes defending Class 5A champion Coppell. Former Carroll pitcher Ross Stripling was selected to the Southern League All-Star Game.

Stripling Makes All-Star Appearance
Former Dragon pitcher Ross Stripling continues to make his rise in the minor leagues. Stripling pitched in the Double A Southern League All-Star Game on July 17. Stripling went one-third inning of relief and had one walk in his team’s 6-0 loss. Follow Stripling’s season here. He plays for Chattanooga in the LA Dodgers organization.

Lacrosse Player Commits To UNC
Carroll’s Zack Kissick, a standout lacrosse player, has commited to the University of North Carolina, according to insidelacrosse.com. Kissick is a sophomore-to-be. 

 

 

Lady Dragons Advance To Regional Tournament

The Carroll Lady Dragon volleyball team delivered another impressive playoff performance Tuesday. Carroll defeated Lubbock Coronado 3-1 in a Class 5A Region I Quarterfinal match at Vernon High School.

The No. 2-ranked Lady Dragons dropped Coronado (37-6) in four games — 25-14, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-21 — to advance to the 5A Region I Tournament in Glen Rose. Carroll (47-3) will face Colleyville Heritage at 6 p.m. Friday at Tiger Arena in Glen Rose. The winner faces the winner of Arlington-Coppell in the Region I final at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tiger Arena. The region champion advances to the state tournament.

Lady Dragons Aim For Undefeated District Run

The Carroll Lady Dragons’ volleyball team concludes the District 4-5A schedule on Tuesday when they host Keller Central at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Lady Dragons are 42-3 overall and 13-0 in 4-5A. The Lady Dragons  are coming off a three-game sweep of Northwest last Friday – 25-22, 25-14, 25-16.

The Lady Dragons, who have clinched the 4-5A title, are also gearing toward the Class 5A playoffs which begin Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 29-30.
