Southlake Tennis Center Announces Fall Programs

431363_383346265070982_788373849_nContinuing its year-round offerings of programs, Southlake Tennis Center announces its Fall 2014 schedule of adult and junior classes. Southlake Tennis Center is now accepting participants for its fall programs, which begin the first week of September and continue through end of year.

Southlake Tennis Center is a public tennis facility owned by the City of Southlake. The center is a USTA Outstanding Facility and was named Tennis Industry’s Public Facility of the Year in 2012. It has 19 lighted hard courts available to rent on an hourly basis. The center provides professional instruction with coaches available for private individual and group instruction. “We are proud that our dedicated tennis pros have all played college tennis and are USPTA/PTR certified,” said Southlake Tennis Center Manager Mia Gordon-Poorman.

The Southlake Tennis Academy is designed to provide a comprehensive program for juniors starting at age 4.  The STA program includes weekly classes, organized match play and tournaments. “We offer weekly match play for players starting at 7 years old, Junior Team Tennis, Futures Stars Tournaments and Play Days/Nights during the fall season,” said Gordon-Poorman. “We have a graduated method of instruction that allows players to gain skills quickly and advance based on ability.”

Fall monthly classes will be held for ages 4-16 years old using the USTA QuickStart Program, which uses racquets, balls, courts and nets that are scaled to the size and ability of the student. Classes are based on age and ability with each class focusing on developing the appropriate skills needed to become a competitive tennis player. Classes will work on coordination, agility, footwork, court movement, ball skills and racquet technique.
