The Carroll Lady Dragons Water Polo team won the 2017 Texas Cup last weekend in Lewisville.
The Lady Dragons defeated Denton Guyer 7-2 to win the tournament. The Lady Dragons are coached by Assistant Coach Keeley Lowery and this year’s captains are Sophia Torres, Erin Weisert and Ana Warner.
The Dragons also competed in the event and defeated state champion St. Marks before losing to Flower Mound 8-4 to finish second. The Dragons are coach by Dan Balint and this year’s captains are Daniel Balint, Zachary Lowery and Griffin Rea.
The Carroll Dragon baseball team split its two head-to-head games last week with Trinity.
Carroll lost the Tuesday meeting at CSHS 3-0, but bounced back strong with a 13-3 run-rule victory last Friday at Trinity.
The Dragons (14-7-1 overall, 3-1 in District 5-6A) posted an 11-run first inning that sealed Trinity’s fate. Carroll was led at the plate by Kole Ramage, who went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Adam Stephenson, Ross Cadena and Wyatt Stapp each had two hits. Cole Johnson had a team-high three RBI with a triple.
Jake Murphy and Cadena each hit home runs. Sophomore pitcher Cutter Sippel earned the victory with seven strikeouts in three innings.
Carroll faces Lewisville this week – Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Lewisville and Friday at 7 p.m. at CSHS.
The Carroll Lady Dragon soccer team earned a 3-1 victory on Tuesday at Lewisville.
With the victory, the Lady Dragons moved to 15-0-1 and 9-0-1 in District 5-6A. Senior Texas Tech signee Ally Griffin had two goals and Taylor Tufts added one in the victory. Emily Chase, Kendall Gilpin and Neaka Khalilian each had assists.
The Lady Dragons return to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Marcus
Dragons Tie Lewisville
The Dragons boys’ soccer team tied Lewisville 1-1. The Dragons are 12-2-2 overall.
Carroll hosts Marcus on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Dragon Stadium.
LEWISVILLE – Needing a key victory on the road in District 5-6A, the Dragon boys’ basketball team delivered Tuesday at Lewisville.
The Dragons snapped a three-game losing streak and upended Lewisville 48-37 to stay in the thick of the playoff picture. Carroll was led by junior Jack McBride’s game-high 17 points. Sam Bourcy added 11.
Carroll took advantage with a second quarter surge and 23-10 lead at halftime. The Dragons held Lewisville below double digits in scoring in three quarters.
The Dragons improved to 12-10 overall and 4-4 in district. Carroll is tied for fourth place with Lewisville and Marcus. Friday night the Dragons host Byron Nelson at 7:30 p.m.
Lady Dragons Drop Close Game
The Lady Dragons fell at Lewisville 36-34 on Tuesday. Carroll was led by Jillian Sowell’s eight points.
Carroll led by five points entering the fourth quarter, but was held to four points in the final quarter. The Lady Dragons fell to 5-14 overall and 1-9 in district and host Byron Nelson at 6 p.m. Friday.
The Carroll Dragon boys’ basketball team suffered a close loss Tuesday vs. Trinity. The Dragons fell 56-53 at CSHS and are now 3-3 in district action and tied with Lewisville and Marcus in fourth place.
The Dragons are 11-9 overall. Sam Bourcy led the Dragons vs. Trinity with 21 points and Alex Kietzman had 14. Carroll returns to action Friday in a key matchup at Lewisville at 7:30 p.m.
The Lady Dragons also fell to Trinity, 66-33 and dropped to 5-12 overall and 1-7 in district action. Gabby McBride led the Lady Dragons with 10 points. Carroll plays at Lewisville at 6 p.m. Friday.
