In a year where competition was fierce among Texas’s 545 public library systems, Southlake stood out, joining the ranks of 84 libraries that met the rigorous standards of excellence required for this recognition. This award is not just in recognition of the past year’s achievements, but also a reflection of the library’s continuous dedication to serving its community with distinction.

The Texas Municipal Library Director’s Association, an affiliate of the Texas Municipal League with over 1,100 member cities, annually confers the Achievement in Library Excellence award.

The TMLDA’s criteria for the award are comprehensive, demanding excellence across ten service areas, including outreach to underserved populations, innovative marketing, community collaboration, service enhancements, literacy support, digital inclusion, workforce development, cultural programming, professional staff training, and other initiatives that contribute to library excellence.

Southlake Public Library’s success is a collective effort, made possible by the library team’s passion and dedication, which does not go unnoticed by the community it serves. The library’s innovative approach to programming and services set a benchmark for what a public library can achieve.
