Lace Up for Camp Gladiator’s Free Couch to 5K Training Program!

Whether you’re a beginning runner or an experienced racer looking to beat your personal record, Camp Gladiator’s free Couch to 5K program will help you cross the finish line strong.

Camp Gladiator’s Couch to 5K program is designed to help runners of all levels and abilities complete their strongest, fastest 5K (3.1 mile) run. The Couch to 5K program includes a FREE 3-month training schedule that will guide participants to safely increase their speed and endurance through a combination of individual training and group meetups.

Participants simply follow the Couch to 5K individual training plan throughout the week and then come out to Bicentennial Park each Saturday morning from January 20 to March 10 for a group run and/or workout. These 7:00 a.m. meetups are a great way to get to know fellow runners, stay motivated and start your weekend strong. Best of all, you’ll earn 3 points toward the Wellness Challenge for each meetup you attend!Runners take off for the Superhero 5K

The Couch to 5K training program culminates with the Superhero 5K and Fun Run in Bicentennial Park on March 17, which also marks the official end of the 2018 LiveFit Wellness Challenge. Although you do not have to be registered for the Wellness Challenge to take part in the Couch to 5K program, Challenge participants will receive FREE entry into the Superhero 5K to show off all of their hard work and dedication.

LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge begins on Jan. 14 at Bicentennial Park.

Join us as we kick-off our eight week LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge on Saturday, January 14, 2017!

The first event of this year’s LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge, sponsored by Sprout’s Farmer’s Market, will take place at 9a.m. on Saturday, January 14th as we take a walk around Bicentennial Park with Mayor Laura Hill. We will meet at Aria Amphitheater to get warmed up before we head off. Immediately following that will be a health fair at The Marq Southlake. The health fair will include free health screenings, information about health and wellness and what our local sponsors are doing to support that mission.

The LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge is a city wide program aimed at encouraging community health and wellness for people of all ages. Throughout the free eight week challenge there will be many events to reach out and connect with the city. These events will include free group fitness classes, CPR certification classes, the LiveWell Lecture Series and Low-Calorie Cook-off among others. If you have not already registered for the Wellness Challenge, you can online at LiveFitSLK.com or in person at any LiveFit Southlake event.

Also, don’t forget to also take advantage of the free group fitness classes going on during the month of January. The classes offered include Zumba, Pilates, and multiple types of yoga.

Make a resolution to stay fit with the LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge

If you made a resolution to stay fit, active, and healthy in the New Year but haven’t had a chance to get started, then the City of Southlake and the Community Services Department have a great opportunity for you. Starting Saturday, January 30, the 10-week LiveFit Southlake Wellness Challenge kicks off. This challenge, which is meant for the whole family, is aimed at promoting and encouraging community health and wellness while building both physical and mental strength.

The goal of the challenge is to provide residents every opportunity to get involved and improve their lifestyles, all while having a lot of fun. LiveFit is also an excellent chance for you and your family to explore and enjoy all of Southlake’s city parks and recreation facilities. Events range from Walks with the Mayor and Health Fairs to Lunch & Learns and a 5K/Fun Run.
