Meet New and Longtime Merchants in the Local Business Report

Southlake’s business landscape continues to evolve, with new office buildings, retail centers and hotels appearing (or coming soon) along State Highway 114 and Southlake Boulevard. A look at the New Biz List, published each month by Southlake’s Economic Development and Tourism Department, also reveals recently opened businesses and upcoming commercial development in the city.

A tool the Department uses to help business owners introduce themselves to the community is the Local Business Report, a brief presentation scheduled during select City Council meetings. The presentations are made by business owners or their representatives, are posted to the Local Business Report blog and promoted via the City’s social media channels, as well as distributed via a RSS feed and sent to people who opt-in via the Notify Me system – click here to sign up. Steel City Pops, which opened March 11th in Park Village, was featured during the May 2nd City Council meeting; previous participants include Cinnaholic and Smashburger. Recently, the City changed the delivery format of the Local Business Report to a blog format so if you happened to miss the previous months Local Business Report, it can still be viewed. The opportunity to participate in the Local Business Report is open to any business located in Southlake.

Supporting new and existing businesses is a high priority for the Economic Development and Tourism Department. The Department also hosts the interactive Shopping & Dining Guide Story Map. This is an online tool that helps residents and visitors find all the great retailers and restaurants the City has to offer in a mobile-friendly map.

“Economic development is more than bringing new businesses into Southlake, but also helping them to succeed and grow – whether they’ve been here for a month or ten years. The Local Business Report is a great opportunity for business owners to engage with the City Council and the community to share information about their business,” said Deputy Director of Economic Development Daniel Cortez.

For more information about the Local Business Report, contact the Economic Development and Tourism Department at 817-748-8039.
