Lori Payne Retires as City Secretary

Lori PayneAfter more than twenty years working for the City of Southlake, City Secretary Lori Payne is retiring.

Payne has worked for the City since 1996. She has served in several departments including Planning and Development Services, and the City Manager’s Office. Payne was first named City Secretary in 2002.  In 2014, after working in the City Manager’s office for three years, she was again named City Secretary by the Southlake City Council.

During her time with the City Payne has overseen countless council meetings, City Council candidates through the election process, and managed multiple general and special elections.  Payne was honored at the June 20th City Council meeting.

“We want to publicly thank you for all of your service to Southlake and your service to us,” said Mayor Laura Hill.

“I always knew that Lori would say good bye to Southlake, but 20-plus years has flown by too quickly, said City Manager Shana Yelverton. “I’m simply grateful for the time that she chose to invest in Southlake.”

During the 6/20 meeting, current Deputy City Secretary Carol Borges was named Interim City Secretary. Payne’s final day with the City is at the end of July.
