Southlake Parks and Recreation Announces Athlete of the Year

Athlete of the YearThe City of Southlake Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce Madison Lilley as the City of Southlake’s 2014 Female Athlete of the Year. The Athlete of the Year award is given in conjunction with the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (T.A.A.F.) and the award was established in 1996 to honor outstanding athletes for their participation in T.A.A.F.Madison has been swimming in the T.A.A.F. program for six years and the last three with the Southlake Stingrays. While swimming for the Southlake Stingrays, Madison has won over 20 individual medals at both Region and State level competitions. In 2014 she placed first in each of her events at the Regional Championship Meet. These first places finishes qualified Madison to swim at the 2014 Summer Games of Texas in College Station to compete against some of the top swimmers in Texas. Madison collected four more medals at the Games of Texas, including three 2nd place finishes.

Madison is an extremely hard worker; she sets goals and puts in the effort required to achieve them. For 2014 Madison set a goal to win an individual medal at the Summer Games of Texas. She not only achieved this goal but exceeded it by coming home with four medals! Madison is also know for her spirit and leadership in and out of the water. She is always cheering on her teammates, offering a helping hand and demonstrating the work necessary to succeed.

2014 was great year for Madison and the City of Southlake congratulates her for all of her hard work and achievements. The City wishes her the best of luck at the 2015 Winter Games of Texas next January!
