Adolfson & Peterson Completes Medical Office Building in Southlake

Forest Park MOBAdolfson & Peterson recently completed a new Medical Office Building (MOB) at the Southlake campus of Forest Park Medical Center.

The new medical office building includes a 4-story, 88,159-square-foot structure, with a grand entrance atrium, elevator core, and shell space for future clinic tenants. The new medical office building was designed by GSR Andrade to maximize the aesthetic balance of the campus by utilizing a stone veneer which matches the existing hospital’s exterior finish.

A two-story enclosed connector joins the new MOB with the existing Forest Park Medical Center Southlake hospital, completed by Adolfson & Peterson (A&P) in April 2013.

A&P’s team of construction professionals overcame numerous challenges to bring this project in on schedule and within budget. Namely, the team encountered multiple weather delays which prevented work on the site. Still, the project team was able to manage the schedule in order to bring the project in on the original timeline.

The new MOB building is the latest in a long line of projects which A&P has partnered with LandPlan and Neal Richards Group to build.

In all, A&P has built nearly one million square feet of hospitals and medical office space under the Forest Park Medical Center brand throughout Texas.

FPMCS - Entry Fountain - 02- version9252012CForest Park Medical Center opened its Southlake hospital with much fanfare in June 2013. Less than a year later, it is celebrating another milestone: the topping off ceremony of the new four-story medical office building adjoining the main facility (in front of the parking garage). Construction began October 2013 and it is scheduled to be complete this August.

At 88,000 square feet, the medical office building will house an urgent care center, pharmacy, bank, various physician practices, and possibly a women’s imaging suite.

Forest Park Topping Off Ceremony

The new medical office building is being built by Adolfson & Peterson Construction, Neal Richards Group and LandPlan Development for approximately $19 million. Representatives from each company, along with Forest Park Medical Center administrators and City of Southlake council members, attended the topping off ceremony March 19.

“The event today is meant to take a moment to recognize the hard work up to this point and look ahead at the work still to be done. All project partners took time to celebrate the creation of an environment that will make a difference in the lives of patients and their families,” stated by Reed Williams of LandPlan Development.

With 142,000 square feet, the hospital is equipped with 54 private inpatient rooms; 10 VIP suites; 12 large operating suites; six ICU beds; two endoscopy/special procedure suites; and full-service imaging, MRI and CT scan; Forest Park Medical Center Southlake also contains emergency and intensive care departments that are staffed by physicians 24/7.

Carroll Medical Academy Seeks Clinical Internships

The Carroll Medical Academy is in the market for a select few medical professionals to provide internship opportunities for CMA senior students for the spring semester.

These internships are an integral component of the required BioTechnology class, and the internship is an incredible opportunity for students to observe and learn in a professional medical environment. Students are HIPPA certified, TB tested and typically on-site for approximately 2 to 3 hours per week. Schedule modifications are possible with some students.

If you are a medical professional and are interested in sponsoring one or more of our Carroll Medical Academy seniors for an internship, please contact our Internship Chair Dawn Schindler at dawnschind@msn.com or Mrs. Sherry Martin, our CMA Director at sherry.martin@southlakecarroll.edu for more details on program dates, requirements and specifics. Past internships have been widely varied and have included office visits for many specialties (from pediatric to veterinarian), surgical viewings, and paramedic ride-alongs.

The Carroll Medical Academy is an academic program that provides exceptional students who have an interest in entering a medical, dental, veterinary or research-based field with a challenging Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum beginning the freshman year of high school.
