AUSTIN – Carroll senior runner Reed Brown added a final chapter to his outstanding Dragon career.
Brown produced yet again at the UIL State Track and Field meet and repeated as the Class 6A state champion in the 3,200 meters. Brown finished in a time of 8:58.02 Brown’s medals and record-setting weekend didn’t end there.
He followed the next day with a second-place trophy in a record-setting run vs. Sam Worley of New Braunfels Canyon in the 1,600 meters at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas. Both runners broke the state record that had been held since 2003.
Brown finished at 4:02.39 and Worley won the title with a time of 4:02.30.
Lady Dragon runner Gillian Moritmer also competed at state and finished 9th in the 3,200 meters.
The Distict 5-6A track meet was held over two days last week at Flower Mound High School.
The following Dragons (including their district finish) have qualified for the Area Meet Thursday-Friday at Northwest Stadium.

The Dragon Varsity Swim/Dive Teams hosted their home meet of the 2016-2017 season last week.
The Dragons dominated Allen and Dallas Jesuit winning all three relays and nine individual events.
The Lady Dragons won all three relays, and seven of the nine individual events vs. Allen and Dallas Ursuline Academy.
The next event Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. at the Carroll Aquatic Center.

The Dragons made an impressive showing at Region 1-5A UIL Academic Meet. Overall, a dozen students and two teams qualified for State. The meet was held at Texas Tech University in Lubbock May 1-3. AUSTIN – Two Dragon wrestlers competed last weekend at the UIL State Wrestling Championships and both earned top-six finishes. Cody Lindberg was the top finisher earning a fourth-place medal in the 195-pound division. Lindberg won his first two matches and earned a pin in his second match. Matt Swoyer made his second consecutive trip to the state tournament and competed in the 170-pound class. Swoyer finished sixth overall and suffered a close loss (4-3) in the fifth-place match.
