Carroll ISD Names Wyrick New DIS Principal

Mike Wyrick was approved Monday as the new Durham Intermediate School principal.

The Carroll ISD Board of Trustees approved Mike Wyrick on Monday as the new principal at Durham Intermediate School. Wyrick previously served in the district as Dawson Middle School assistant principal the past five years.

“It is with great pride and excitement that I become the principal of Durham Intermediate School,” Wyrick said. “I look forward to developing strong, lasting relationships with students, staff and parents while fostering the core values and traditions of Carroll ISD.”

Wyrick has been in public education for 15 years. He started the first nine years of his career as a high school history and economics teacher and coach for various districts across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Next, Wyrick served as an assistant principal in White Settlement ISD for one year before he started at Dawson Middle School.

His leadership experience includes implantation and management of campus operations, increase in student achievement, teacher/campus staff professional development and teacher evaluation, and United States Air Force aircraft communication and navigation specialist.

Wyrick taught World History, US History, and economics as well as coached football, track, and soccer. He earned his Master of Education degree from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) and his Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M. He and his wife, Becky, have two children – a son, Luke who is 8, and a daughter Dylan, who is 5.
