Carroll Senior High School student Natalie Heineman was recently named a State Farm Texas Scholar of Merit. Natalie is the third Carroll senior in as many years to receive a $1,000 scholarship from State Farm. A special presentation is planned at the Senior Awards event scheduled for Tuesday, May 22. Carroll ISD sponsor and State Farm agent, Mike Davis will make the presentation to Natalie. The Senior Awards ceremony will be held inside the CSHS auditorium. The event begins at 7:30 p.m.
Through a nomination process and voting, The Texas Scholar Award Program selects 50 scholarship winners each year. Natalie received her scholarship based on academic achievements, leadership and citizenship characteristics. Natalie is ranked in the top 4% of her class of 685 students. She is the daughter of Bryon and Martha Heineman. Natalie is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society, and a National Merit Commended Student. Natalie is also a Green Jacket, member of the Emerald Belles Drill Team, Key Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She plans to attend the University of Texas in the fall. For over a decade, the Texas Scholar Award Program has been awarding scholarships to deserving students. This year, the program received over 1,500 nominations. The competition to earn 1 of the 50 Scholar of Merit awards granted this year was extremely strong, and these fifty Scholars of Merit represent the talent and character to be the leaders of the future of Texas and the country.
