UrgentVet is pioneering Veterinary Medicine in Southlake

The new veterinary clinic opened their doors at 200 Kimball Ave Blvd, Suite 200 this past November, and they are filling a new niche in veterinary medicine!

UrgentVet is the first dedicated urgent care clinic for your pet! Similar to urgent care clinics in human medicine, UrgentVet provides the opportunity for non-emergency care outside of normal veterinary operating hours, without the added expense of emergency care! Their goal is to fill the gap between your regular vet and the ER by providing fast, professional care with love and compassion to make your pet comfortable until you can follow up with you regular veterinarian, if needed.

The clinic is open 365 days a year and no appointment is necessary. Clients and their pets will be greeted with transparency online, or if they walk-in the clinic, by real-time updates from the doctor and a live feed waiting list in the lobby. When designing the clinic and exam rooms, the team at UrgentVet was intentional about keeping their clients and patients as comfortable as possible by removing the reception area to reduce bottlenecking at check in or check out, removing high cabinets from the cat room and utilizing a scale/table with a lift for the large dog rooms. Currently, the clinic has two large dog rooms, two small dog rooms, one comfort room for final farewells, and one room for cats. Practice Manager Coral del M Rivera-Román stated that since opening, most patients have been of the feline variety, and if the trend continues, they will outfit one or more of their dog rooms to accommodate cats.

UrgentVet is a proudly certified Fear Free practice, ensuring that your pet and you are as comfortable as possible throughout the appointment. They accomplish this by providing treats and refreshments for pets and their owners, as well as offering a calming environment through the use of pheromones and white noise machines if needed.

While primarily intended for the treatment of dogs and cats, UrgentVet can also treat some exotics such as guinea pigs, but it is recommended you call prior to coming in or saving your spot online to ensure a doctor is available to see your exotic pet.

Some of the services offered by UrgentVet include: Allergic Reactions, Abscess Treatment, Dizziness or Disorientation, Ear Infections, End of Life Care, Eye Conditions, Wounds Care, Limping, Not Eating or Drinking, Rabies Exposure, Poison or Toxin Ingestion, Skin Issues, Signs of Pain (Trembling, Whining, Hiding), Urinary Issues, X-rays, and Vomiting & Diarrhea.

UrgentVet’s examination fee is just $99 and other services such as testing, and treatments are priced between that of a general practice veterinarian and an emergency veterinary hospital.

UrgentVet is not an emergency clinic and is unable to provide overnight care or surgery. If the clinic is unable to assist your pet, you will be promptly referred to an animal emergency clinic near you.

Potbelly Sandwich Shop Brings its Good Vibes & Great Sandwiches to Southlake

logo_headerBest known for its good vibes, toasty sandwiches and live music, Potbelly Sandwich Shop opened its first shop in Southlake, Texas (1161 East Southlake Blvd., Suite 200) today, Tuesday, June 23, 2015.Even with more than 300 locations (and growing) throughout the U.S., every Potbelly Sandwich Shop maintains a unique neighborhood vibe by incorporating decoration that reflects each community, featuring local singing talent and partnering with local area charities.

To celebrate the Southlake opening, the new Potbelly held its traditional Oven Warming grand opening event onMonday, June 25. For a suggested $5 donation at the door, guests received a Potbelly Originals Sandwich, bag of chips and fountain drink. Additionally, 100 percent of proceeds was donated to Gateway Church Single Parents Ministry to raise funds for their great work.

The authentic Potbelly experience is defined by its combination of toasty warm sandwiches, hand-dipped shakes, tasty made-to-order salads, as well as friendly and lively people. Potbelly’s delicious food and heart for the surrounding neighborhood has built a passionate, loyal following of fans who eagerly spread the word about the shops’ fun, energetic atmosphere and great grub.

Often recognized for its live entertainment, music has been a part of the Potbelly experience since the first shop opened in 1977. Neighborhood musicians put a little rhythm into lunch by performing live at Potbelly Sandwich Shops around the country.

Potbelly’s unique atmosphere is complimented by its inviting interior. Potbelly Sandwich Shop searches high and low for décor that give the shops their distinctive, local quirks.  No two Potbelly shops are alike, always incorporating little touches and artifacts that reflect each neighborhood it resides in.

Organizations looking for ways to team up with Potbelly to further support the community are encouraged to request additional information from the restaurant’s General Manager about their 25% Fundraiser opportunity. Potbelly will work with non-profit organizations to host an approved event at the shop, donating 25 percent of net sales during the designated time-frame to the group.

The Southlake shop is open Monday – Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Taziki’s Mediterranean Café Makes Texas Debut in Southlake July 1

Taziki's CafeKnown for its authentic Greek fare, original sauces and signature pasta, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café will open its first Texas location July 1. Located in Wyndham Plaza at 2750 E. Southlake Boulevard, suite 100, this is the 35th location in nine states. To celebrate the grand opening, a ribbon-cutting will be held July 1 at 10:30AM and the public is welcome to attend.  Greg McElroy, who recently retired as a NFL quarterback and also played at The University of Alabama and Southlake Carroll, will be in attendance to celebrate Taziki’s support of Kids Matter International and his personal friend, Bryce Saldi.

Dallas resident, J.W. Mulkin, will serve as the operating partner for the 2,600 square foot Southlake location. A Birmingham native, where Taziki’s was founded in 1998, Mulkin is excited to bring Taziki’s to his new home state and plans on opening other locations throughout the Dallas area.

“I grew up a regular customer of Taziki’s and knew that I wanted to become a part of this growing company when I heard of the opportunity to expand in Texas,” stated Mulkin. “Southlake is a city that embraces new businesses and genuinely wants to help them succeed. When you are in Southlake, you get an intimate hometown feel. The people of Southlake carry that Southern charm that we as a company believe is the foundation of our customer service.”

The restaurant concept began after founder, Keith Richards, was inspired by Mediterranean cuisine during a trip to Greece. The menu will feature freshly grilled meats, original sauces and healthy side dishes, as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options.  A best-selling dish at other locations, the Taziki’s Signature Pasta includes a bed of mixed lettuces with penne pasta and grilled chicken, tossed in homemade balsamic vinaigrette, topped with tomatoes, feta and fresh basil.

Diners may choose between rotating daily specials and fixed menu items for lunch or dinner. The Southlake location will feature indoor dining with Mediterranean-inspired décor, as well as al fresco dining on the patio. Take-out and catering options will also be available.

Taziki’s Mediterranean Café cares about making customers feel like family, but also shares a passion for charitable giving. Taziki’s takes pride in helping worthy causes through donations of food, time and funds. The Southlake location is honored to support Kids Matter International. The Texas-based nonprofit serves orphaned, abandoned and disadvantaged children locally and internationally.

“Every single Taziki’s location is involved with at least one charity as our way to give back to the community that supports us. We understand the importance of helping others who might not be as fortunate,” stated Mulkin, noting that the Southlake location will also make a donation to Bryce Saldi, a former Southlake Carroll High School football star who suffers from a debilitating brain injury.
