CMS Theatre Wins Awards at OAP Competition

CMS_OAP2014 (2)Carroll Middle School Theatre recently competed in the Northwest One-Act competition.  Their production of “West” brought home a superior rating and tech crew won Best Tech.

Individual awards went to: Jayden Goldberg, Katie Cross, Shawn Carter, Rachel Connell, Mitchell Groff, and Matthew Schultz.CMS_OAP2014 (1)

Corbin Bowman (pictured, right) was named Best Actor for  the entire festival.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dragons Bounce Northwest In 4-5A Showdown

The showdown between the top two teams in District 4-5A quickly became one-sided last Friday at Dragon Stadium. The Dragons continued their dominance in district with a 45-0 victory to take sole possession of first place.

The Dragons improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in 4-5A. Carroll jumped to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 42-0 by halftime. Quarterback Kenny Hill led the offense with five touchdowns (three passing, two rushing). He tossed two first quarter TDs to Luke Timian (13 yards) and Ryan Weigel (29 yards). Hill also had a 44-yard rushing TD in the second quarter. The Dragons scored three points in the second half on a Drew Brown 30-yard field goal.

The Dragons finished with 509 yards of offense as Hill ended 17-for-24 with 296 yards passing and 83 yards rushing on eight carries. Running back A.J. Ezzard added 15 carries for 75 yards and one TD.

The victory also marked the Dragons’ third shutout of the season (second in district) as Northwest was held to 179 yards and just nine first downs. In the past six games, the Dragons’ defense has allowed just 17 points combined.
