The Southlake Police Department will be joining their brothers and sisters in blue in New York this coming weekend to pay respects on behalf of the residents of Southlake, to NYPD Officer Wenjian Liu; one of two slain officers who were killed on December 20th. Honor Guard members and Police Sergeant’s Kevin Diehl and Tyler Sewell will represent the City of Southlake and the Southlake Police Department at the funeral for NYPD Officer Liu.
Services for Officer Liu will be held on Sunday morning, January 4th at 10:00 a.m. in Brooklyn, New York. Close to 25,000 officers from around the world attended the funeral this past Saturday for Liu’s partner, Officer Rafael Ramos.
Liu and Ramos were shot to death as they sat in their patrol car in the middle of the day on December 20th.
The funeral for Officer Liu took some time to arrange, as he had relatives traveling from China.
JetBlue Airlines offered free airfare to law enforcement agencies across the country that wanted to attend the funerals to show support for the slain officers and the entire NYPD family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of Officer’s Liu and Ramos and the entire New York Police Department.
