Park Place Dealerships Give Dragon Fans Ultimate Opportunity

Carroll Dragon logo Trademarked 4Park Place Lexus and Park Place Motorcars Grapevine are giving one lucky Southlake Dragon fan the opportunity to kick a field goal for the chance to win a 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA or a 2015 Lexus NX.  The field goal attempt will be held at the Southlake Dragons vs. Coppell Cowboys game on October 3, 2014, at Dragon Stadium.

“This is a unique opportunity for the community to have some fun and possibly drive away in a new car,” said Matt Woolsey, general manager of Park Place Lexus Grapevine.  “We love the pure enjoyment of this event for the community. It will be exciting to see the contestant attempt to win the car.”

Park Place Lexus and Park Place Grapevine are long time sponsors of Carroll ISD and the Carroll Education Foundation.

Contestants for this event need to register at godragons.parkplace.com/southlake-field-goal/ before 12:00 p.m., October 1, 2014.  There is a maximum of one (1) entry per person.  One lucky winner will be chosen at random from all entries received and two alternates will be notified 24 hours prior to the field goal kick attempt. The field goal attempt will be held at Southlake Carroll Dragons Stadium during half time of the October 3 football game. In order to qualify for the grand prize, the contestant must successfully kick a football of regulation size over the crossbar and between the uprights of a regulation state high school goal post. Current or former Olympic, semi-professional or professional football, soccer or rugby players who have competed in the United States, Canada or Europe cannot participate.  Current or former high school or collegiate football, soccer or rugby players who have competed at that level within the past six (6) years and current or former football coach who has coached at the high school level or above within the past six (6) years may not participate.  For a list of all rules and regulations please visit http://godragons.parkplace.com/southlake-field-goal/.

The Carroll ISD Administration will formally recognize this year’s Campus Teachers of the Year at the district’s annual End of Year Celebration scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28 at Carroll Senior High School. The celebration brings together all Dragon employees for an afternoon of awards and celebrations marking the end of the school year.

Every year, each of Carroll ISD’s eleven schools selects one teacher who best represents the district’s mission vision and values throughout the school year. Teachers were chosen by their co-workers. This year’s secondary campus teachers of the year are: David Lown, Carroll Senior High School; Jennifer Wunderlich, Carroll High School; Rebecca Colvin, Carroll Middle School and Jared Sutton, Dawson Middle School. This year’s K-6 campus teachers of the year are: Melissa Bailey, Durham Intermediate School; Colleen Aldridge, Eubanks Intermediate School; Reigan O’Quinn, Carroll Elementary; Meredith Schneider, Johnson Elementary; Josie Smith, Rockenbaugh Elementary; Shelley Alonzo, Old Union Elementary and Kelli Anne Connell, Walnut Grove Elementary.

Carroll ISD’s 2013-14 K-6 Teacher of the Year and Secondary Teacher of the Year will be announced at the End of Year Awards Celebration. To compete for this recognition, each of the Campus Teachers of the Year must complete a comprehensive award application. An awards committee, made up of district employees, parents and School Board Trustees will select the top two individuals to represent the district in the Region XI Teacher of the Year contest.

The End of Year Celebration will be emceed by Superintendent Dr. David Faltys and will include CISD Administration and members of the Board of Trustees. The event is made possible by businesses and individuals that contribute Carroll ISD’s We Care program and district sponsors Frost BankCentral Market Southlake and Park Place Motors.

Dragon Stadium Sponsors Host Kick for a Car Contest

TLC Electrical and Park Place Mercedes/Lexus in Grapevine are giving one lucky Southlake Dragons Fan the opportunity to kick a field goal for the chance to win either a 2014 Mercedes CLA or 2014 Lexus IS. The field goal kick attempt will be held September 27, 2013, at Southlake Dragons Stadium prior to the Homecoming Game between the Southlake Dragons and Keller Central Chargers.

“We thought doing this field goal contest would be a great way to add some pre-game excitement for the homecoming game,” said Tami Church, vice-president of TLC Electrical in Southlake. “And since Park Place and TLC are both Southlake Dragons sponsors, it seemed like a great fit. They were on board immediately.”

One lucky winner will be chosen at random from all entries received by September 26, 2013, at 5:30 p.m. The lucky winner will be notified Thursday evening 24 hours prior to kick attempt. There is still time to register at http://tlcelectrical.com/contest.

“The kick attempt is no gimme,” said Church. “We sure would love to have the contestant win one of these luxury cars though. Whoever gets to make the kick attempt, we’re really pulling for them.”

Annual Rotary Club Hosts Public Safety Celebration

The Rotary Club of Southlake will honor area firefighters, police officers and support personnel with its annual DPS Appreciation Celebration on Saturday, June 1, at the gazebo in Southlake Town Square.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. visitors will find fire engines, police cars and motorcycles, as well as live music, children’s activities, a blood drive, free food and refreshments. The Rotary Club of Southlake would like to thank Freedom Powersports who is the Chief Sponsor for the event.

“We are so grateful to our public safety officers and this is our chance to celebrate all of them, we would like to invite the public to join in our celebration!” said Christine Singh, chair of the event.

Other local sponsors include Park Place Motorcars, Providential Realty Partners, Providence Bank of Texas, Sean Cerone, DDS, PA., Met life Auto & Home Insurance, Hendricks Insurance Agency, Juli Bledsoe Realtor, Mike Bowman, Inc. and many others. Donations from our local sponsors will help fund scholarships for the children of local public service workers. Last year’s event allowed the Southlake Rotary club to award $3000 in college scholarships to our DPS families.

Attendance is free and the public is encouraged to stop by to show their appreciation and support. Snoopy will be on hand to meet and greet all children.  Met Life Auto and Home Insurance in coordination with the Southlake Police Department will be providing free finger printing services for children.

Entertainment will include Hall’s Music Productions and Dana’s Studio of Dance. Other local businesses participating will be Rita’s Italian Ice, The Owl’s Nest, Aleda’s Pizza and Dickey’s BBQ.

CEF Hosts Annual Culinary Celebration, Sept. 7

Carroll Education Foundation of Southlake invites you to their annual Culinary Celebration at The Hilton Southlake Town Square on Saturday, September 7 from 6-10 p.m.  Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m.  Park Place Lexus Grapevine, a long time supporter of the Carroll Dragons, will once again be the title sponsor.

This annual fundraiser for the Carroll Education Foundation raises funds to support the children and teachers of Southlake Carroll Independent School District. Teachers receive grants from CEF for innovative ideas that will enhance the learning experience of students. Students can also receive scholarships their senior year from CEF.

Culinary Celebration 2012 raised more than $220,000, all of which was used to provide numerous teacher grants and student scholarships benefiting the children of the Carroll Independent School District.

The 17th annual event will feature dozens of Metroplex chefs, specialty wines and cocktails, live and silent auctions, a big board and much more. The live auction will feature items including a unique item from Park Place Lexus and original artwork from one of our own CISD students.  The silent auction and big board will include sports memorabilia, trips, and jewelry among other items.  Grayson Allen Fine Jewelers will host the jewelry pull and the always popular wine pull will offer unbelievable deals.
