The first Masterworks concert of the season, hosted by the Southlake Public Library, will kick off on Friday, March 17, 2023, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with themed giveaways, pizza, and a live performance by the Journey Tribute Band, Escape. Food vendors will begin serving pizza and dessert at 6 p.m. and the band will begin at 7 p.m.

Arts Council Northeast (ArtsNet) and the City of Southlake are delighted to present the return of the Masterworks Concert Series this spring with guests appearances by local chefs! So, grab your lawn chair, cooler, picnic blanket, friends, and family members, and head on over to the Rustin Pavilion for a relaxing evening in the Southlake Town Square.

Families, friends, and groups of all ages will enjoy visiting Southlake to discover a wide range of music genres and styles throughout the concert season. Local and regional talent will be performing at Rustin Pavilion in Southlake Town Square on various Fridays throughout the spring.

Don’t worry about dinner on concert nights. The locally owned 1956 Pizza truck, accompanied by a dessert truck, will be serving specialty pizzas cooked by guest chefs throughout the Masterworks Concert series. The proceeds for guest chefs' specialty pizzas will go to their favorite charity. For example, Executive Chef Jose Soto has selected Ronald McDonald House. Here’s what a couple of guest chefs had say about their love for pizza:

The Southlake Senior Activity Center is kicking it old school this week with a special Lunch and Lucy Show Picnic.

There’s no better time than April to enjoy the Spring weather now that winter is behind us. To bring in the new season, the Senior Center, in partnership with Southlake Library, will be celebrating the National Bookmobile Day on Wednesday, April 7. The Senior Center is inviting members to join them on the back patio of The Marq’s Legends Hall and the Aria Amphitheater lawn for a picnic lunch provided by Jersey Mike’s. The fun doesn’t stop there. Senior Center members can look forward to a hilarious Lucille Ball impersonator show!

Lucille Ball rose to international fame with the premiere of I Love Lucy in 1951. I Love Lucy set the standard for the American sitcom for decades to come. Its hilarious take on the cultural issues of the time, and emphasis on strong, female friendships, made I Love Lucy one of the most popular tv shows in history. The Senior Center is excited to be bringing the nostalgic humor of Lucille Ball to Legends Hall.

The Senior Center is always coming up with fun and creative events to involve Southlake’s senior community. From weekly wellness calls, the Monday lunch curbside pickups, and safe outdoor events, Senior Services Coordinator, Soheila Phelps, is always committed to bringing fun to Southlake’s seniors.

“Now that the beautiful Spring weather is upon us, providing outdoor programs where our senior community can safely get together is a step in the right direction in bringing some normalcy back into their lives,” stated Soheila Phelps. “We hope to bring more outdoor activities and programs like this in the coming months.”

Don’t miss out on the fun! Seniors 55 and over can grab their blankets and chairs, social distance, and join us on April 7! Advance online registration is required, and the fee to participate is $6.00. Lunch begins at noon, and the show goes from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. Register here.
