Dragon Baseball Faces Plano in Bi-District Playoff Series

The Dragon baseball team begins the Class 6A playoffs this week.

Carroll, the District 5-6A champions, faces Plano in a Class 6A Region I Bi-District playoff series. The series begins Friday at 7 p.m. at Plano Prestonwood Christian.

Plano was the fourth-place team in District 6-6A. Game 2 will be played at 3 p.m. Saturday at Prestonwood and Game 3 (if necessary) would follow 30 minutes later.

The winner of this series faces the winner of Waco Midway vs. Irving Nimitz next week in the area round.

Carroll finished the regular season last Friday with 4-3 extra-inning loss to Hebron. The Dragons are 22-9-1 and went 11-3 in district.

The Dragons are led on the mound by Arkansas signee Kole Ramage, who has two previous years of playoff starting experience.

Dragon Debate Opens Season with Top Scores

Forty four schools from across the state met at Plano Sr. High for the first State Qualifying Tournament of the season.

The Dragon Debate Team upheld the winning tradition with great pride!  Senior, Davis Samuel, qualified for the National Individual Tournament of Champions in Dramatic Interpretation.

Receiving points toward the state meet were:

  • Djorn Patel – Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate – Top 8
  • Emma Lin – Varsity Lincoln-Douglas Debate – Top 16 
  • Kevin O’Brien – 1st in Congressional Debate 
  • Daniella Cohen – 2nd in Congressional Debate 
  • Ali Prasla – 3rd in Congressional Debate 
  • Hampton Sella – 9th in Congressional Debate 
  • Priyanka Suri – 10th in Congressional Debate 
  • Will Cook – 4th in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking 
  • Azhair Hussain – 5th in Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking
  • Sam Bonham and Priyanka Reddy placed in the top 16 out of 60

Dragons brought home the 4th place sweepstakes award.

The team will compete this weekend at a national tournament, hosted by Grapevine High School.
