Dragon Sports Notebook: 7-on-7 Team Wins State Title

LEANDER – The Carroll Dragons’ 7-on-7 team captured the Division I state championship last Saturday pulling off an impressive run that ended with a convincing title game victory.

The Dragons, led by junior-to-be-quarterback Ryan Angew, defeated Houston Stratford 46-27 in the championship held at the Southwest Williamson County Regional Park in Leander.

Carroll won five consecutive games in the Championship Bracket on Saturday and was fueled by big plays on both sides as they fought off the heat. The Dragons also went 3-0 in pool play.

This marked the second 7-on-7 state title for the Dragons. In 1998, Carroll won the inaugural 7-on-7 event.
