Dragons Named to Region 24 Honor Bands

Nearly two dozen Carroll ISD students recently completed a multi-phase audition to determine placement and advancement to the Area Audition.

22 students were selected to the Region 24 Honor Bands. The Region 24 Honor Band Clinic and Concert will be January 23- 24 at Frisco Heritage, Liberty and Little Elm High Schools.

From this Hannah Bronson, a Junior who plays Piccolo will advance to the Area Audition round competition on January 11 at Abilene Christian University.

Dragon Band Students Hitting All the Right Notes

CISD student Joshua Villarreal selected to All Region Orchestra

The Carroll Dragon Band is getting ready for its final marching competition scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 in Duncanville. Students  will perform in the Duncanville Marching Invitational. The preliminary round begins at 3:45 p.m. at Panther Stadium.

CISD student Wesley Song selected to All Region Orchestra

The band is coming off a proud performance at last weekend’s Region 24 UIL Contest held at Standridge Stadium Carrollton. For the 18th straight year, the Dragon Band earned straight “Superior” First Divisions from the 3 adjudicators, who all had great comments on the “Y-Knot” marching show. This marks the 34th time in Carroll Dragon Band history to earn a Superior Rating. Earlier this month, the Dragon Band earned a 4th place finish against 26 other bands at the Golden Triangle Classic in Denton.

Also at the Region 24 competition, students Wesley Song and Joshua Villarreal were selected to the All Region Orchestra. Wesley, a junior was selected to All Region Symphony Orchestra. Joshua, a freshman was selected to the All Region Philharmonic Orchestra. Both will participate in a clinic and concert on December 13-14 at Liberty High School in Frisco.

 

Carroll Jazz Earns Outstanding Results

Members of the Carroll Jazz Band competed at the Region 24 Jazz Audition on Saturday, Sept. 21 in Frisco. Carroll ISD Director of Jazz Bands, David Lown said the competition was very tough and Carroll students came back with outstanding results.

The following students were selected to the Jazz Ensemble 1 and will audition for All-State Jazz Ensemble: Chris Weisberg, Adam Horne, Christopher Cunningham, Kenny Martin and Stephen Ma.

Tanner Deters, Colton Ginn, Ryan Adler, Pearce Brown, Ray Teer and Ryan Fields were selected to Jazz Ensemble 2. Jackson Wright  was selected as 1st alternate – drums, Nathan Fritz was selected as 1st alternate – trombone, Tien Tran received 1st alternate – alto sax and Daniel Canterino is 1st alternate – tenor sax.
