On Monday, May 19 students in Megan Von Dreau’s music class had a unique learning experience at Eubanks Intermediate School.
Combining both Music and Social Studies curriculum, teachers and members of the Eubanks PTO organized a Day of Drumming event. Sixth graders learned and played traditional songs and rhythms from West Africa on their own hand carved djembe (drum) brought in for the event.
The music lesson was timed to coincide with the students learning about Africa in social studies classes. Instruments and lessons were provided by David Cox from Rhythm Path.
