Brumlow Avenue to Close Again, Friday, July 6

Tomorrow morning, July 6, TexRail’s construction team will be reimplementing the FULL closure of Brumlow Avenue for the installation of the rail crossing, utility and paving improvements near the intersection of SH 26. TexRail’s team anticipates this closure to last through July 21 at this time.

Orange Barrel Alert: Lane Closures at Kimball Ave, North of SH 26

Update 2/9/2018: TexRail decided to take a different approach to this project. Please visit our updated article from 1/30/2018 for current project details.  Kimball Avenue at SH 26 is scheduled to re-opened on February 22, 2018.

Starting Monday, January 15, there will be inside lane closures on Kimball Avenue, north of State Highway 26.

Fort Worth Transportation Authority’s contractor will close down the inside lanes of Kimball Avenue near the railroad crossing, just north of State Highway 26, to install new paving and facilities in preparation of the installation of the new rails for the Tex Rail Project.

This configuration will leave the outside lanes, a single lane in each direction, open to traffic for the duration of Phase 1 of this project.  Phase 1 is anticipated to last until February 13.

Please contact Southlake Public Works with any questions at (817) 748-8098.

Orange Barrel Alert – Brumlow Avenue Construction Update

Area of construction for the Brumlow Widening Project

Area of construction for the Brumlow Widening Project

New traffic switches at Brumlow Avenue and State Highway (SH) 26 signal that the Brumlow Avenue Widening Project is entering its final month.

Beginning the week of January 4, 2016 and lasting the rest of the month, periodic traffic switches will occur at Brumlow Avenue, just north of SH 26. Weather permitting, contractors will need to close various lanes of traffic in order to work unobstructed and it’s likely these closures will impact traffic accessing Brumlow Avenue from SH 26.

Motorists are asked to use caution when traveling in the area and please keep in mind that, due to the nature of the work, delays are likely.

Orange Barrel Alert – Brumlow Construction Begins

Brumlow-MapConstruction on Brumlow Avenue at SH 26 is expected to begin the week of August 17, 2015.

Beginning the week of August 10, 2015, work will start on the Brumlow Avenue Widening Project. The contractor, Pavecon Public Works, LP, will widen Brumlow Avenue from SH 26 to the Alpine Materials driveway (see map) to 4 lanes with a center dual turn lane. The construction will also include:

  • Transition improvements from westbound SH 26 and northbound Pool Road
  • Capacity improvements to help relieve traffic congestion during the AM and PM peaks

Motorists can expect delays once construction begins. If possible, please seek alternate routes. The Public Works Department will provide periodic updates on the construction as they become available.

The project is a Southlake 2030 recommendation on the City’s Master Thoroughfare Plan and aims to ease traffic congestion stemming from the recent work on SH 26.

For questions, please contact the Public Works Department at 817-748-8098.

Road Construction Alert – SH 26 – Brumlow Avenue/Pool Road

Update 7/9/2014

This project has been delayed temporarily. More information will be posted when available

Southlake residents and commuters should be aware of a new road construction project that will start on Monday, July 7th. TxDOT contractors will be working in Grapevine near Colleyville and Southlake at the intersection of Brumlow Avenue – SH 26 – Pool Road. They will be implementing Phase 2 and 2A of a multi-phase traffic project.

The construction will start on the Pool Road side of SH 26 and is anticipated to be completed in late July weather permitting. Afterward, the TxDOT contractors will move to the Brumlow side where work at the Brumlow/SH 26 intersection is anticipated to last into late summer 2014.

Because of the location of construction, drivers will experience delays coming into and leaving Southlake via Brumlow Avenue. Please be aware of the likelihood of long delays and seek alternate routes if possible.

Here is what drivers can expect beginning July 7th:

Brumlow Avenue to SH 26

  • (Phase 2) Brumlow Avenue near the intersection with SH 26 will be down to one lane heading south towards Pool Road and one lane heading north coming from Pool Road
  • (Phase 2A) Traffic on Brumlow Avenue will be shifted to the outermost right lane heading towards SH 26, but will still be limited to one lane through SH 26 and one lane coming from Pool Road
  • Pool Road to SH 26

(Phase 2 & 2A) From Pool Road through SH 26 onto Brumlow (See maps below)

  • One left turn lane onto south SH 26
  • One through lane to Brumlow
  • One right turn lane onto north SH 26

The purpose of this multi-phase project is to increase the vehicle capacity of the intersection of SH 26 – Brumlow Avenue/Pool Road. Once again and because of the high likelihood of this project affecting traffic, motorists should expect delays if using this intersection and should seek alternate routes if possible.
