Lady Dragon Softball Team’s Playoff Bid Falls Short

CARROLLTON – The Lady Dragon softball team’s playoffs hopes ended Saturday.

The Lady Dragons lost 4-3 at Hebron ending the chances of a postseason bid in the final game of the season. Carroll finished the year 16-12-1 overall and 7-7 in District 5-6A.

Carroll rallied to cut the lead in the seventh with two runs, but fell short. Riley Carter led the Lady Dragons with two hits. Kelly Shackleford suffered the defeat on the mound for Carroll going 4.1 innings.

Gaby Garcia and Katie Gee each added one RBI for Carroll. Gee and Allie Nuenke also hit doubles.

Hebron broke a 1-1 with two runs in the bottom of the third inning.

Lady Dragon Softball Saves Playoff Hopes with Wild Comeback

The Carroll Lady Dragons delivered a magical comeback to keep their playoff hopes alive Tuesday night.

The Lady Dragons scored five runs in the bottom of the 7th for a 7-6 walkoff victory at CSHS vs. L.D. Bell. Carroll is still fighting for one of our playoff spots in District 5-6A with one game remaining.

Carroll needs Lewisville to defeat Hebron Wednesday night to earn a playoff berth.

The Lady Dragons are 16-11-1 and 7-6 in district and finish the season Saturday at 1 p.m. at Hebron.

Carroll overcame a 5-2 lead in the seventh as Avery Zeigler singled in the winning run. The offense was led by Gaby Garcia’s 4-for-4, two-RBI performance. Abigail Stuart had three hits and two RBI and Allie Nuenke had two hits.

The Lady Dragons finished with four extra base hits. Nueke got the victory on the mound going five innings.

 

Lady Dragon Softball Stays in Playoff Hunt with Victory Over Nelson

TROPHY CLUB – The Carroll Lady Dragons picked up an important District 5-6A win last Thursday to stay in the playoff hunt.

Carroll defeated Byron Nelson 8-1 and improved to 15-11-1 overall and 6-6 in district.

The Lady Dragons trailed 1-0 before a three-run third inning gave them the lead for good. Carroll added two runs in the fifth inning and three in the seventh. Carroll was led at the plate by Abigail Stuart and Katie Gee, who each had two hits apiece. Brooke Martin led the Lady Dragons with two RBI.

Kelly Shackleford earned the victory on the mound for the Lady Dragons and tossed a complete game.

The Lady Dragons will look for another victory when they host L.D. Bell Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Lady Dragon Pitcher Tosses No-Hitter vs. Trinity

EULESS – Carroll Lady Dragon softball pitcher Allie Nuenke won’t forget Tuesday’s special outing.

Nuenke tossed a no-hitter as the Lady Dragons defeated Trinity 18-1. Nuenke went five innings (run-rule shortened game) and had seven strikeouts.

The Lady Dragons were led at the plate by Gaby Garcia, who had four hits and five RBI. Avery Zeigler had three hits and Brooke Martin had three RBI.

Carroll held a 9-1 lead after three innings before unloading a nine-run fourth inning.

The Lady Dragons improved to 14-9-1 overall and 5-4 in District 5-6A.

Lady Dragon Softball Grabs Big Wins in District

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team had a successful week in District 5-6A.

The Lady Dragons started last Tuesday with a walk-off victory vs. Byron Nelson, then added a road shutout Friday at L.D. Bell.

Carroll blanked Bell 5-0 behind pitcher Kelly Shackleford, who allowed five hits and had five strikeouts. Abigail Stuart led the Lady Dragons at the plate with two hits and two RBI.

The Lady Dragons improved to 12-8-1 overall and 3-3 in district action. Carroll hosts Hebron at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Walk-Off Win: Lady Dragon Softball Saves Best for Last

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team earned an important District 5-6A victory Tuesday at home.

In the midst of a deficit all night, the Lady Dragons rose to the occasion with a five-run seventh inning for a dramatic 11-10 comeback victory against Byron Nelson.

The Lady Dragons entered the final inning trailing 10-6. Katie Gee delivered the game-winner with a walk-off double driving in two runs.

Abigail Stuart had four RBI and went 3-for-4. The Lady Dragons finished with 12 hits.

Byron Nelson led 6-4 after three innings and 10-6 after five innings. Carroll improved to 11-8-1 and plays at L.D. Bell on Friday at 7 p.m.

Lady Dragon Softball Hosts Byron Nelson Tuesday

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball will look to stop a two-game losing streak Tuesday vs. Byron Nelson.

The Lady Dragons have lost back-to-back District 5-6A games to Marcus and Lewisville by a combined three runs.

Carroll is 10-8-1 overall and earned its first district victory 11-0 vs. Trinity on March 7.

First pitch against Byron Nelson is 7 p.m.

Lady Dragon Offense Comes Alive vs. Colleyville Heritage

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team stopped a two-game losing streak with a dramatic home victory Saturday.

The Lady Dragons defeated Colleyville Heritage 16-9 to improve to 9-6-1 overall this season. It stopped a two-game losing streak to Flower Mound and Eaton.

Carroll was led by Abigail Stuart who had three hits and four RBI. The Lady Dragons trailed 9-5 entering the bottom of the fifth when they unleashed 11 unanswered runs. In the fifth the Lady Dragons scored four and then added seven more in the sixth.

The Lady Dragons finished with 13 hits and held Heritage scoreless in the top of the seventh for the victory.

Carroll returns to action in District 5-6A play Tuesday at home vs. Trinity at 7 p.m.

Lady Dragon Softball Having Successful Start to 2017

The Carroll Lady Dragon softball team is two weeks into the 2017 season.

The Lady Dragons are posting impressive results. Carroll is 8-4-1 after two tournaments, and won or tied its first eight games.

Carroll posted a 4-0 shutout of Rudder on Saturday. The Lady Dragons held Rudder to two hits as Allie Nuenke went five innings and had five strikeouts.

Madison Cashon and Elizabeth Egel each had two hits apiece. Cashon also had two RBI.
