Celebrate Very Hungry Caterpillar Day with Southlake Parks and Recreation

Join us on Friday, March 22 for a special preschool program dedicated to Eric Carle’s classic children’s book The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Since its original publication in 1969, The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been translated into over 40 languages and is still considered one of the most popular books for early readers. In fact, this book holds such a special place in readers’ hearts that it’s earned its very own day—March 20 is officially Very Hungry Caterpillar Day! Children ages 3 to 5 are invited to join Southlake Parks and Recreation as we celebrate with a reading of The Very Hungry Caterpillar followed by themed crafts and activities.

Mini Dribblers Spring Classes Begin Monday, March 18

Don’t miss out on Southlake’s popular basketball skills class designed just for preschoolers!

Mini Dribblers introduces children ages 4–5 to the fundamentals of the game of basketball. Little athletes will learn how to dribble, shoot, pass and more in a safe and well-supervised environment. Coaches use kid-friendly games and drills to help kids build their basic basketball skills, improve their coordination and practice good sportsmanship.

Be sure to bring your camera to the last day of class when players show off everything they’ve learned in the Big Game!

Get Ready for a Very Beary Preschool Valentine’s Day!

Kids ages 3–5 are invited to celebrate Valentine’s Day with their favorite teddy bear at this special preschool program on Friday, February 1.

This Valentine’s Day, Southlake Parks and Recreation is inviting preschoolers and their favorite teddy bear to join us for a morning of games, crafts and Valentine’s-themed fun. We’ll even be creating a beary special Valentine’s Day surprise!

Superhero Training Academy Now Accepting New Recruits

Southlake is in need of heroes! Is your kiddo ready to answer the call?

It’s a bird, it’s a plane—it’s our next superhero-in-training!

Join Southlake Parks and Recreation for a morning packed with more fun and action than the latest Marvel movie. We’ll start by making our very own superhero costumes, then we’ll show off our superhero skills as we protect Southlake from evildoers. When our recruits soar out of Superhero Training Academy, they’ll be ready to fight injustice wherever their powers are needed!

SoccerTots Fall Sessions Begin September 7

Register your soccer star for lessons designed with little athletes in mind!

SoccerTots instructors use kid-friendly language and activities to teach kids the fundamentals of soccer. Classes for kids ages 3–4 focus on strengthening fine motor skills and building self-confidence, while classes for kids ages 5–6 emphasize core soccer skills and introduce an element of light competition. Instructor-to-student ratio is kept small to encourage individual growth and promote fun, fun, fun!
