Eating Out, Giving Back: Redrock Canyon Grill is Serving More Than From-Scratch Cuisine

One Southlake restaurant is giving church-goers a reason to dine out on Sundays. Since opening its doors in April 2016 to serve hungry customers an eclectic combination of Southwest and American style cuisine, Redrock Canyon Grill has also been giving back. What started as a simple idea has developed into a program for the restaurant to donate a portion of its earnings to local churches.

Appropriately named Sewing Seeds Back into the Church, the program allows restaurant patrons to bring a church bulletin to the restaurant or write the name of a church on their meal receipt on any Sunday. The restaurant then donates 10 percent of the total bill to the respective church.

Southlake is one of six locations in the Oklahoma-based restaurant chain and is the only site currently practicing this policy of giving, an idea of Kelli Grimes, the Southlake location’s proprietor.

“We care about the community and we want to give back. It’s a way for us to stay connected to our customers,” stated Grimes, who also mentioned that the restaurant has received donation requests for 31 churches in Southlake, Grapevine, Keller, and Colleyville.

Redrock Canyon Grill waits for a single church’s donation requests to add up to $50 before donating that amount to the church, and starting the cycle again. Over the past three months, the restaurant has donated $250 to area churches.

As the small laminated card on each table in the restaurant reads, “It’s very simple. The more you spend, the more we donate.” The next time you and your family consider lunch plans after church on Sunday, remember—sometimes eating out also means giving back.

Redrock Canyon Grill is located at 2221 E. Southlake Blvd. #360. For additional information about the restaurant, visit their website.
